Grow Your Own

The beauty of living in a legal state, whether it be medical or recreational (or both!) – is the ability to grow your own cannabis in the comfort of your own residence. This allows the ability to have your own crop and avoid having to go to a dispensary to pick up your cannabis. A lot of dispensaries you go to are also growing at such a large scale, or commercial level that they typically do not have the staff or workforce to baby a set of plants like you would in your legal grow.

Growing for your own can be easy, but to produce a quality crop it most definitely required knowledge, time and patience. A common problem with growing cannabis for yourself is knowing how to diagnose what may be going wrong with your plants. From yellowing or curling leaves to stunted growth and beyond it may be hard to diagnose if you do not have much experience or even if you do.

Nutrient Problems

Problems can persist with your grow depending on the nutrient deficiency or excess in your regimen, but it can be pretty straightforward on how to get back on track with the proper resources.  Typically, those problems can be easily diagnosed using these charts I have referenced for you from master growers around the world.

One of my favorite master growers, Jorge Cervantes, provided the first chart we have used to reference deficiencies in our cultivation. We also swear by his book Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower’s Bible, which you can buy on Amazon here.

My favorite diagram to use breaks down excess nutrients as well as nutrient deficiency primary nutrients, secondary nutrients and also micronutrients elements:

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta explores the effects of marijuana and the brain. Originally against marijuana, Dr. Gupta has changed his mind upon doing his own research. Dr. Gupta goes to Colorado to meet with Matt and Paige Figi, who’s Daughter Charlotte Figi (otherwise known to her family and friends as Charlie) experiencing Dravet Syndrome and trying to find medication that will help her live a normal life. As a last resort after failing with several different (very addictive and dangerous) drugs, the Figi’s choose to try marijuana oil on their daughter with Colorado’s Amendment 20. This particular marijuana oil was extracted from a strain crossed and bred by the Stanley Brothers out of Boulder, CO called “Charlotte’s Webb” and this strain was very special. This strain was very special because it was bred to be very high in CBD, or cannabidiol, and had no THC. THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is one of the many cannabinoids that gives you the psychoactive effects of marijuana (or the “high”). Coffee & Cannabis? It’s no question that people enjoy a nice pick me up from a cup of Joe when they wake up in the morning. For others, that morning cup of Joe comes in the form of cannabis. But what if I told you that you could enjoy both, at once? Well that’s exactly what Kian Abedini, owner of Compelling & Rich, did with his company. He has been pushing boundaries, especially for those who love coffee and love weed, and came up with a brilliant combination for the public to enjoy both at the same time. Compelling & Rich has been featured in LA Coffee Club, which is the best way to discover roasters in LA. LA Coffee Club ships out coffee, fresh, from a different roaster every week. They only work with LA roasters, so they can get the coffee from the roaster to the customers within a day or two. Kian of Compelling & Rich has mastered the art of Cannabis Conditioned Coffee, and this way of infusing doesn’t have THC in the actual product, which means they can ship it anywhere in the US. This form of infusing adds the terpenes from the cannabis to add the flavoring element to the coffee. In this video, they also create an aromatic concoction of infused butter and spices, called a café de hashashin, that will get anyone’s creative juices flowing. Enjoy!

 

 

In this episode of Bong Appetit, host Michelle Lhooq heads to LA Coffee Club to meet with roaster Kian Abedini of Compelling & Rich Coffee. Kian shows us how to infuse coffee with the flavors and aromas of our favorite strain, and prepare the preferred drink of 19th-century artists: a café de hashashin. This aromatic concoction of cannabis-infused butter, coffee, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, orange juice, and pistachio butter will definitely get the creative juices flowing. Victor Hugo would be so proud.

You might not know who Arjan Roskam is, but you’ve probably smoked his weed. Arjan’s been breeding some of the most famous marijuana strains in the world—like White Widow, Super Silver Haze, and many others—for over 20 years. In 1992 he opened his first coffee shop in Amsterdam and has since crafted his marijuana-breeding skills into a market-savvy empire known as Green House Seed Company, which rakes in millions of dollars a year. He’s won 38 Cannabis Cups and has dubbed himself the King of Cannabis.

VICE joins Arjan and his crew of strain hunters in Colombia to look for three of the country’s rarest types of weed, strains that have remained genetically pure for decades. In grower’s terms, these are called landraces. We trudge up mountains and crisscross military checkpoints in the country’s still-violent south, and then head north to the breathtaking Caribbean coast. As the dominoes of criminalization fall throughout the world, Arjan is positioned to be at the forefront of the legitimate international seed trade.

LoudClouds Co. is a cannabis and entertainment blog currently based out of Denver, CO. We work hard to be a relevant and up-to-date resource for legal cannabis consumers, growers, processors, infusers who currently live in a legal state and are curious to learn the wonders of cannabis. From those interested in learning about the medicinal benefits to the recreational users who want to learn more for themselves, we will provide it all. Our blog will include cannabis lifestyle posts, marijuana news, reviews (of strains, concentrates, edibles dispensaries, products, companies and anything cannabis related), tips & tutorials (for growers, processors, infusers and consumers), as well as a smoke shop. Our page is for those of age (18+), living in a state where cannabis use is legal for medical and/or recreational use.

We want to provide this rapidly growing cannabis community with a resource for not only news, but reviews, tips & tutorials, and everything cannabis in-between. As we move forward with more states allowing medical & recreational marijuana, we want to spread our knowledge and keep connected with others in the marijuana community and to spread a positive message.
